Born in 1959 in Hessen, Germany. Lives and works in Berlin.

Graduated in 1990 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg. From 1992–1998 was a lecturer at the College of Lüneburg in the Department of Aesthetics & Communication. In 2007 was a guest lecturer at the University of Arts (UdK), Berlin, Fine Arts Faculty.

In 1993 awarded with DAAD scholarship at the University of California at San Diego, USA.

In 2002 won the first German Sound Art Award, Sculpture Museum Marl /SWR.

In 2004 became an initiator and curator of the symposium, exhibition and concerts STARE ÜBER BERLIN – sound art meets bioacoustics; on the aesthetics of birdsongs.
